General Information:

Colorado Women Flyfishers (CWF) is a non-profit club formed in 1997 to encourage and support women who fly fish, who enjoy the camaraderie of other women who delight in the sport of flyfishing, and to provide a forum for women flyfishers to meet. While not intended as a "learn to fish" club, CWF welcomes women flyfishers of all ability levels. The club seeks to offer a supportive environment in which each member can improve her flyfishing knowledge and skills and have fun in the process. Our diverse membership ranges from young singles to grandmothers, beginners to professionals, and those who can only fish once a year to those who fish several times a week!

Monthly Meetings:

CWF meets on the first Tuesday of every month (except July and December) beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Piccolo's Restaurant, (3563 South Monaco Parkway) located at the corner of Hampden and Monaco in Denver, about 1/2 mile east of I-25. Each meeting features an hour or so of socializing, an optional dinner and, beginning at 7:30 p.m., a speaker on a flyfishing destination, flyfishing skills and techniques, conservation or other related topics.  Potential members and guests are welcome to attend.

CWF is led by a Board of Directors, which meets on the second Tuesday of each month except December. Members are welcome to attend board meetings (especially if they bring dessert!).

Club Activities:

Newsletter:  CWF produces a monthly newsletter that provides information on club activities, stories and articles on flyfishing and other topics of interest to our members.  The newsletter does not accept commercial advertising.
Trips:  CWF coordinates group fishing outings (one-day, weekend and longer) as often as humanly possible throughout the year! For each trip, a volunteer trip coordinator provides information, published in the club newsletter, regarding fishing conditions, preferred flies and directions to the area, and sometimes coordinates carpools.
Education:  CWF sponsors periodic instructional and educational activities for members. In the past, these have included an all-day "hands-on" clinic covering topics such as flyfishing techniques, entomology, knot tying, reading water, and casting techniques, evening flytying sessions where members share recipes and practice tying common and "secret weapon" flies.
Special Functions:  CWF holds special events for its members periodically, such as its annual holiday party and the summer picnic / "gearage" sale. The club also participates in river cleanups and other community activities from time to time.
Committees:  Members are encouraged to join committees that organize and provide club services. The committees include: Education, Funding, Membership, Public Relations/Outreach, Special Projects, and Trips.
